Aldan - administrative center of Aldan ulus
Located on the Aldan Plateau, in the basin. Aldan River (a tributary of the Lena), on the Amur-Yakutsk highway, about 215 km north of the railway Neryungri station, 530 km south of Yakutsk.
The city was founded in 1939 from the mining village Obscure, which appeared in the taiga in connection with the discovery in 1923 of rich gold deposits of Yakutia-prospector, MP Tarabukina VP and head of the farm Bertini.
The name was on location on the River. Aldan.
From 1947 to 1953 on its territory functioned Aldan ITL (Aldanlag, Aldanzoloto).
Population: about 4000 people. Manufacturing: mining ore in mines Lebedinsk mine, mining and excavation work, capital of pages, logging.
